There is a metaphor that can be useful when discussing entrepreneurs when they are successful and can create great impact (Bjerke, 2007a). Such people have to have four body parts actively involved:
+ the head, that is, to have some ideas about what is required to be entrepreneurial in the specific case. We can call this to know
+ the heart, that is, to want to be entrepreneurial+ the stomach, that is, to have the guts to dare to take on something new
+ the feet, that is, to start to move
All these parts must be there. If one of them is missing the entrepreneurial effort will not function well. If you do not ‘know’, it will be blind fumbling. If you do not ‘want’, it will be an act against yourself. If you do not ‘dare’, something constructive will hardly occur. The fourth part, that is, ‘feet’ means that you do something. This is another example of the necessity of looking at a venturesome person as somebody acting, not as somebody behaving.
Use this metaphor to reflect on what you know and want; what you dare to do to achieve it; and how will you start by stating in detail. Analyse with around 400 words abstract.
